Sewing was an interest in my life since I was about 8. I would sit beside my mother making clothes for my dolls while she was making clothes for our large family. By the time I was in high school, I was sewing ALL of my own clothes. I attended NW Oklahoma State University and initially majored in Home Economics. I took all the required courses in sewing and design, but I changed my major to Biology and graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Medical Technology in Wichita, Kansas. I stayed in Kansas and worked as a Medical Technologist for 40 years, but my sewing always remained my passion.
I enjoy working with fabrics such as linen, silk, wool, and cotton. One of my special designs was my wedding dress, made out of silk organza. After I married, I made most of the clothes for my 5 kids, and I even sewed a double knit leisure suit for my husband!
Three of our children graduated from the University Of Kansas. During that time, I became a great KU fan and have attended numerous events, games, and Final Fours. As my enthusiasm grew, I designed and created what is now the Hawk Hat in my sewing room in my basement. After being granted a US patent and NCAA Collegiate Licensing, it is now ready for sale! I am happy to bring this symbol of enthusiasm and spirt to the KU faithful.
KU fans, If you are looking for unique Jayhawk headgear you have come to the right place!
